In 2013, Dr. Nourbakhsh was appointed as the Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences at the University of Tehran, and in 2016, he became the Director of Alborz Campus at the same university.
In the same year (2016), he proposed the establishment of the UNESCO Chair on Social Health and Development. Following its approval by UNESCO in Paris and confirmation by the Iranian National Commission for UNESCO, he was officially appointed by the President of the University of Tehran as the Chairholder. The main objective of this initiative is to promote educational, research, and social activities in the field of social health and sustainable development, and to contribute to UNESCO’s global programs. Based on this vision, several academic working groups have been formed within the Chair, with numerous scholars and researchers collaborating on an honorary basis.
